Chat

Chat

Your primary way to interact with the IIMAGINE AI. Ask questions, get advice, and take actions through conversation.

Where to Find It

  • Sidebar section: Work
  • Sidebar label: Chat
  • URL path: /chat
  • Mobile: First item in the bottom navigation bar

What You Can Do

  • Send messages and get AI responses
  • Switch between AI models and intelligent routers
  • Pin specific skills to control what knowledge the AI uses
  • View and resume recent conversations
  • Export a conversation as a text file
  • Start a new conversation at any time
  • Chat from any page using the floating chat drawer (context-aware)

How It Works

Sending Messages

  1. Click "Chat" in the sidebar under the Work section
  2. You see a personalized greeting ("Hi {your name},") in the center of the page
  3. Type your message in the text field at the bottom (placeholder: "Ask anything...")
  4. Press Enter to send (Shift+Enter for a new line), or click the Send button
  5. Your message appears in a dark bubble on the right
  6. The AI's response appears in a light bubble on the left
  7. While the AI is thinking, you see three bouncing dots

Switching Models

  1. Below the message input, click the first button in the row — it shows a sparkle icon and the name of your currently selected model (or "Default model")
  2. A dropdown opens upward showing your available options:
    • Default (workspace setting) — uses whatever model your workspace is configured to use
    • My Models — models you've added from the model catalog, each showing a green dot (can take actions) or gray dot (can only respond)
    • Intelligent Routers — if you've created any routers in Model Testing, they appear here with a brain icon
  3. Click a model or router to select it
  4. The dropdown closes and your selection takes effect on your next message

If you haven't added any models yet, you'll see: "No models added yet. Go to the model catalog to add models to your chat."

Pinning Skills

Skills are sets of knowledge and instructions that the AI can use. By default, all active skills load automatically. You can pin specific ones to control exactly what the AI knows during a conversation.

  1. Below the message input, click the "Skills" button (second in the row) — it shows an amber sparkle icon if any skills are pinned, plus a badge with the count
  2. A panel opens upward showing all available skills
  3. Use the search field to find a specific skill
  4. Click a skill to pin or unpin it (pinned skills have an amber checkbox)
  5. When you have pinned skills, only those skills load in chat — the AI won't use unpinned ones
  6. Click "Clear all" at the top to remove all pins and return to the default behavior (all skills load)

Viewing Recent Conversations

  1. Below the message input, click the "Recent" button (third in the row, with a clock icon)
  2. A panel opens showing your recent conversations, newest first
  3. Each entry shows the conversation title (or "Untitled chat") and when it was last active (e.g. "5m ago", "3h ago", "2d ago")
  4. Click a conversation to resume it — your previous messages reload
  5. To delete a conversation, hover over it and click the trash icon that appears on the right
  6. Conversations from onboarding are marked with a green "onboarding" badge

Starting a New Conversation

  1. Click the "New chat" button in the top-right area of the chat page (plus icon)
  2. The current conversation is saved and the page resets to the greeting state
  3. You can return to the previous conversation via the Recent button

Exporting a Conversation

  1. During an active conversation (with at least one message), click the "Export" button in the top-right area (download icon)
  2. A text file downloads containing the full conversation

Chat Drawer (Contextual Chat from Any Page)

A floating chat button appears at the bottom-right corner of every page on the platform.

  1. Click the circular button with the message icon at the bottom-right of any page
  2. A panel slides in from the right side of the screen
  3. The header says "AI Chat" with an X button to close
  4. Type your question in the input field (placeholder: "Ask about this page...")
  5. The AI can see what page you're on and the data displayed there — so you can ask questions like "how can I improve this?" or "what does this mean?" without explaining what you're looking at
  6. Click X or the floating button again to close the drawer

The drawer works on pages that display data such as Goals, Facts, Projects, Agents, and Model Testing results. The AI automatically has context about what's on your screen.

Requirements

  • Plan: all (free, plus, premium)
  • Role: any workspace member

Common Issues

"Something went wrong. Please try again." → Try sending your message again. If it persists, try switching to a different model using the model selector.

"Something went wrong and no response was received. Please try again. If the error persists, try entering a different message or switching models." → The AI model may be temporarily unavailable. Switch to a different model and try again, or rephrase your message.

Model selector shows "No models added yet" → You need to add models to your workspace first. Navigate to Models in the sidebar (under Design My AI) to browse and add available models.

Skills button is not visible → The Skills button only appears if your workspace has at least one skill configured. Navigate to Skills in the sidebar (under Context) to create or import skills.
